Academic Related Behaviour

Appropriate and classroom behaviour and diligent attention to one's studies are expected of all of our pupils. Students who fail to complete their work or who work below their potential are referred to the Resource Department for assessment or assistance and/or to the vice-principal for discipline.

Dress Code

  • Students are expected to dress in a modest, neat and clean fashion that is fitting for a Christian teenager.
  • Clothing and personal decorations should be appropriate to ensuring a positive learning environment which bears the name of Jesus Christ.
  • These guidelines are set to help create such a place:
  • Chains (the heavier ones and not the thin ones normally associated with necklaces) are not permitted.
  • Facial or body piercing (other than earrings), razor blades and other decorations judged to be unacceptable are not permitted.
  • Printed slogans that refer to alcohol, drugs, offensive music groups or bear other violent, offensive or inappropriate messages are not permitted.
  • Tattoos that refer to alcohol, drugs, offensive music groups, bear other violent, offensive or inappropriate messages or impede the learning process are not permitted.
  • Spiked accessories are not permitted.
  • Any clothing which exaggerates one’s sexuality is not permitted.
  • Skirts, dresses and shorts must cover three quarters of a person’s thigh.
  • Underwear must not be seen.
  • Tops must overlap bottoms when seated.
  • Shirts and blouses must have sleeves, cover shoulders, and not reveal cleavage.
  • Clothing must not be excessively tight.
  • Outdoor jackets must be stored in the appropriate areas and are not to be worn to class.
  • Physical education clothing is to be worn to the physical education classes only.
  • Pajama pants are not acceptable.
  • Cut-offs and other ripped clothing are not acceptable.
  • Proper outdoor footwear must be worn at all times.
  • Shoes/boots with steel toes are not permitted.
  • Hats may not be worn in the school building.

In any dress code there will inevitably be disagreements over interpretation. The intent is to create a look which is appropriate for creating a positive Christian place of learning. It will, ultimately, be the responsibility of the vice-principal/principal to judge the acceptability of the clothing being worn by students.

Foul Language

The language that we use is often the result of habits developed at home, at work, and in our social environment. There are many words that can be used in an inappropriate way. The language that we use at school should reflect our respect for God and His creation.
