We postponed the fourth annual Eagle run by a week due to wet and muddy conditions at the Quinte Conservation area across from our school. Due to the postponement, there were not as many participants as last year. This did not stop the enthusiasm of the near 70 people who arrived early last Saturday.
We were blessed to be able to raise about $4000, mostly through corporate sponsorships. The money will go toward uniforms, updating the medical kits, reducing some of the student athlete fees and other needs of the athletic department.
Medals were presented to the top three finishers in a number of different categories. In the 5k men's division, gold was given to Ben Tapp, silver to Ben Luttjeboer, and bronze to Andre deVries. In the 5k, under 15 division, gold went to Caleb Hutchinson, silver to Jonathan Post, and bronze to Marlisa Bavaart. In the 10k women's division, gold went to Lindsay Serviss, silver to Margarita Keep, and bronze to Leslie Bertelink. In the 10k mens, gold went to Mats Serviss, and the silver to Brent Smeenk.
We also had a number of great runners in the 2k race. This event was won by Mary Christiaanse, second was Shannon Prins, and third was Olivia Christiaanse.
The Athletic Department would like to thank all the runners and corporate sponsors that participated in the event and made it a success.
