Principal's Report
Welcome to a new year! We have had a great start to the year so far. Students and teachers are busy with new lessons and assignments, and coaches for girls basketball and boys volleyball have started team practices. It is good to be back!
At the opening assembly, we were delighted to have a number of you join us to celebrate this new beginning. Student Council members lead us in prayer and presented our theme for the year. With the direction of the Prayer Team, the passage chosen was I Timothy 4:12-13. As board and staff, we witness our students living out the evidence that the impact of the presence of Jesus makes in their lives.
A very special part of the assembly was the introduction of Kate Woods, one of our new Grade 9 students who has ABI (Acquired Brain Injury). Kate introduced herself by sharing her story with the student body, and explaining what we can do to assist her. She is truly a delight! Kate has a Rehab Assistant, Mrs. Lisanne Smith, who will be spending the first few weeks with us helping Kate with the transition to high school.
Carrie Post, our educational assistant, will be taking over from Lisanne as her full time EA once the transition is complete. Kate also comes with a team of experts who support her and the school. Already we see what a blessing it is to have her in our school community, and how much her presence will enrich our lives.
Our enrolment is at 157 students and 113 families. This is the highest enrolment in our history as a school - something to celebrate! This year we have 38 students in our Grade 9 class and 8 new students in Grades 10-12. We are truly blessed to see new students from all our communities from Brighton to Kingston. God is continuing to bless us! It is exciting to have so many communities represented in our school. A special welcome to our new teachers, Mr. Jason Wryghte and Mrs. Christy Wryghte, and to Mrs. Lisanne Smith, Kate’s Rehab Assistant.
