Mathematics
Mathematics is presented as a discipline in which the complexity, harmony and precision of God's character are reflected. The theme emphasized throughout our math courses is that mathematics evidences the purposeful design of our universe by a creative God.
Students choose between the applied and academic courses in Grades 9 and 10.
Beginning in Grade 11, the program diversifies. Students choose between university and college destination courses.
Strong basic skills are emphasized in conjunction with a focus on analytical skills used to solve complex problems. Technology is used in all math classes in the form of graphing calculators.
Enrichment opportunities are provided through participation in the Canadian Mathematics Competition conducted by the University of Waterloo. It is customary for a number of students each year to receive Certificates of Distinction indicating that they have scored among the top 25% of contest participants.
